5.1 – CDS (Central Difference Scheme)

This scheme generates a linear interpolation to the problem boundary. Assuming that the faces of our elemental volume are placed in the mean distance between nodal points, it follows that:

;

(5.1.1a)

;

(5.1.1b)
And also:

;

(5.1.2.a)

;

(5.1.2.b)

Comparing (5.1.1) and (5.1.2) to (4.6) and (4.7), repectively, we have:

(5.1.3.a)
And,
  (5.1.3.b)

And the subscript i simbolizes the faces which are being interpolated.

NOTICE: Non-realistic solutions are generated when CDS is used in dominant convection problems. These approximation errors occur because CDS is a non-dissipative scheme.
