CFD Mesh

Introduction:

One of the most important steps of a numerical simulation consists in the discretization of the computational domain, i.e, in the mesh generation.

CFD Mesh is a software for generation and edition of structured two-dimensional meshes. The software is divided in two basic modules:

  • CFD Mesh Editor
  • CFD Mesh Generator

  CFD Mesh-Editor:

The CFD Mesh Editor Module allows the edition of meshes loaded from files with the “.sdf” format. The edition tools of the software are:

  • Translation and rotation of the mesh;
  • Point and control volumes translation;
  • Addition and removal of lines of the mesh;
  • Mesh mirroring about the vertical and horizontal axes.

Besides the edition tools, the CFD Mesh Editor module facilitates the generation of meshes in simple geometries (parallelograms, trapezium, polar, mixed and spirals) and, through the Merge Grids tools, it becomes possible the discretization of complex geometries through the composition of simple meshes, as shown in Figure 1.

  CFD Mesh-Generator:

The CFD Mesh Generator module allows the generation of two-dimensional structured meshes.

The CFD Mesh Generator uses the geometry defined by the user as the calculation domain. The mesh is generated through first order algebraic interpolations or through the solution of differential elliptic equations [Maliska 1995].
